As in any culture, faith or other planetary system, there is a language that ever so intimately expresses the nuances, emotions and history behind it. In my Hare Krishna world, I learned Sanskrit, a sacred and ancient language that is beautifully complicated and aesthetically artful. I was raised in an english speaking ashram, but also learned verbal and written sanskrit mantras and hymns. From early childhood, I was exposed to the interpretations of sanskrit texts and the philosophies of vedic life, stories and principles through the mouths of white men.
The analogies and sayings of my childhood were, let's just say, memorable.
